Help test GuestPermits
If you live in one of Atlanta's residential permit zones and you're tired of retyping your guests' cars into the City's portal, we'd like your help trying the app before it goes public. It's free during the beta, and your feedback shapes what ships.
What you need
- An iPhone or Android phone.
- An existing City of Atlanta residential parking permit account at atlparkingpermits.rmcpay.com. The app logs in as you; it has no account of its own.
- A guest who parks at your place now and then, so there's something real to test.
Sign up
Leave your email and which phone you have. We'll send the install link and a short note on what to try. Nothing else is done with your address.
Get the app
- Android
- GuestPermits for Android installs from the Google Play Store. After you sign up, we add the Google account email you give us to the tester list and email you the link. Open it on your phone, tap Accept invitation, then install from the Play Store like any other app. Updates arrive automatically from then on. If you already have the link: join the GuestPermits test on Google Play.
Two things you may notice: the Play Store lists the app under its package name,com.guestpermits.app, until Google's first review, and that is normal for test apps. And if you installed an earlier build from a download link, uninstall it first; Play will not update over it. - iPhone
- GuestPermits for iPhone installs through Apple's TestFlight. Install the free TestFlight app from the App Store, then open this link on your iPhone: join the GuestPermits beta on TestFlight. Tap Accept, then Install. Updates arrive through TestFlight automatically from then on. You can still sign up above so we can send you release news and answer questions.
What to expect
- Setup takes about two minutes: your details as they appear on your permit, then a photo of each guest's plate. The app reads the plate, make, and color from the picture.
- After that, creating a permit is pick the car, pick the days, tap Create. The app fills in and submits the City's own form on your account and shows you the confirmation.
- Everything is stored on your phone. There is no account with us and no server holding your information. Details.
- If something breaks, the app tells you what stopped it. Screenshots of that message are the most useful thing you can send.
