Privacy Policy
Summary
GuestPermits helps City of Atlanta residents create guest parking permits on the City's permit portal. Your details, your saved vehicles, and your permit history are stored on your phone and nowhere else. The app has no account system and no server that stores your data. The only information that leaves your phone is what you send to the City's portal to create a permit, and the vehicle photo you choose to have read automatically.
What the app stores on your phone
- Your details: name, address, city, zip code, phone number, email address, and default permit zone. You enter these once and confirm them each time. They are stored in a database on your device.
- Vehicles: the name you give each vehicle, its license plate number and state, make, model, color, and the photo you took or chose. Stored on your device.
- Permit history: zone, cycle, dates, and whether each attempt succeeded, along with the confirmation the portal displayed. Stored on your device.
- Portal PIN (optional): if you choose to save your 4-digit portal PIN so the app can enter it for you, it is stored in your phone's secure keystore (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore), separate from the database. The one-time verification code the portal emails or texts you is never stored.
- Portal session: the app opens the City's portal in a built-in browser view. That view keeps the same kind of login cookie a normal browser would, so you are not asked to verify your email on every use.
Deleting the app deletes all of this. There is no copy elsewhere.
What leaves your phone
- The City's permit portal (atlparkingpermits.rmcpay.com, operated by Passport Inc. on behalf of the City of Atlanta). When you create a permit, the app fills in the portal's form with your details and the vehicle's details and submits it, the same as if you typed it yourself. The portal's own privacy policy governs what it does with that information: passportinc.com/privacy-policy.
- Vehicle photo reading. When you take or choose a vehicle photo and ask the app to read it, the photo is sent to an image-recognition service to identify the plate, make, model, and color. The service used is Anthropic's Claude API. The photo is used only to produce that reading and is subject to Anthropic's policies: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. The request goes through a DigitalForge Pro LLC relay that adds no identifying information and stores nothing. You can skip photo reading entirely and type the details instead.
Nothing else is sent anywhere. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.
What the app does not do
- It does not sell, share, or rent your information.
- It does not collect location data.
- It does not read your contacts, messages, or other apps.
- It does not access your photo library except for the single photo you pick.
- It does not store your portal verification codes.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: to photograph a guest's license plate. Optional.
- Photos: to choose an existing picture instead. Optional. Only the picture you select is accessed.
Your choices
- Edit or delete your details and vehicles at any time inside the app.
- Remove the saved PIN by clearing it under Your Details.
- Delete the app to erase everything it stored.
Children
The app is intended for adults who hold a City of Atlanta residential parking permit. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it and the app's store listing links to the current version.
